Maximum Cards

Please Note: A maximum card (maxicard) is a postcard with a postage stamp placed on the picture side of the card where both the stamp and card images match or at the very least are closely related, and is canceled with the appropriate First Day cancel (or Special Cancel as the case may be). In many instances the cancel image itself is also related to the image on the card and/or stamp. This being said, most of Israel's maxicards over the years issued by different stamp dealers do not meet the criteria of a true maximum card, however popular they were at the time. In recent years, the Israel Philatelic Services and some dealers in Israel have started issuing maxicards for selected issues that meet the criteria as indicated above. JSR is the new kid on the block and our maxicards are of the highest quality (JSR produced cards are identified on the reverse and are issued in very limited editions).
The maximum card category will include four different types of maxicards.

1) Maxicards for regular stamp issues produced by either the Israel Philatelic Services, or by dealers (noted as such in the description). These will be identified by the appropriate Scott Cat # which may also be followed by a period (.) and number indicating that one or more different maxicards are available for the same issue, followed by the suffix MC for maxicard.
2) Maxicards produced for special Israel cancels, and not for stamps. These are produced privately, and both the maxicard image and cancel will be the same, similar or closely correspond. These will be identified by The Israel Philatelic Federation Cat # (always 5 digits), preceded by the prefix SP for special cancel, and which may also be followed by a period (.) and number as above, followed by the suffix MC for maxicard.
3) Maxicards produced privately for all types of ATM computer generated stamps. The card image will also correspond to the ATM stamp and cancel. These cards will be identified by the prefix ATM with the Carmel Cat # for all ATM stamps, and once again may also be followed by a period (.) and number as above, followed by the suffix MC for maxicard. Our identifying label on each card may also include the Israel Philatelic Federation 5 digit Cat # for identification for those who collect these beautiful cancels.
4) Others not included in above, such as MAOR computer generated sheets issued for special occasions or maxi cards with personalized generic stamps (sheets) as issued by the Israel Philatelic Services, and sometimes privately produced ones with a particular or specialized topic. Cat #'s for these cards will be our own with the prefix MAOR or PGS, as the case may be, and will be identified as such, followed by the suffix MC for maxicard. Note: Maor stamps have no need to be cancelled as the cancellation date information is imprinted on the stamp when purchased direct from the ATM machine, although some may very well be FD cancelled.

Our stock will include ALL maxi-cards available by us whether they meet the maxicard criteria or not; the collector will choose. NOTE: It is immaterial whether maxicards are officially issued by the Post Office or privately; as long as they follow the maximaphilately criteria noted, they can be officially exhibited nationally and internationally.
