Israel Philately: International Show Cards

In 1981 the Israel Philatelic Services introduced THE ISRAEL INTERNATIONAL SHOW CARD. The first such show card was issued for the WIPA stamp exhibition in Austria. Since then, over 20 National and International exhibitions around the world have been so honoured by Israel’s Philatelic Services. Each show card relates almost exclusively to the host country, and in many instances hi-lites the Jewish aspect of that particular country by virtue of the stamp or photo reproduced on the card. These cards were available ONLY at the show, and were not sold by the Philatelic Services nor through their subscription agencies around the world, perhaps  with one or two exceptions.  The cards have been issued in very  limited numbers when you consider the tens of thousands of people who attend these shows, with unsold cards destroyed after each show.

Most cards are available from JUDAICA SALES - only 1 card remains truly elusive - and that is the 1982 Philex France of which a large quantity was lost in the mails. The show cards are available either mint or First Day cancelled with appropriate stamps and cancellations relating to the International Show at which the cards were sold, and in some cases cancelled each day of the show, on the same card or on separate cards. Only a handful of dealers worldwide have access to these cards. They were discontinued in 1997.
